Drawings

I have always sought peace in my own life, with varying degrees of success, and because I tend to find that peace in the creation process, it feels natural to create “quiet” work. I am generally compelled to depict moments of peace and quiet, whether fleeting or lasting, although I often like to leave it to the viewer to decide whether or not the peace is a happy one, a sad one, a lonely one, a complete one, etc.

In addition to being an effective way to convey that sense of quiet, dark, dominant, exaggerated shadows create attractive shapes, and can, in some cases, even abstract familiar forms. I have found dry media on a black surface to be the best way capture the mood, shapes and textures I am after.
